WORKPLACE
Red Design Group
Melbourne Office
Red Design Group's move to its new Queen Street abode situated in Melbourne's CBD became a
catalyst for redefining the company and updating the brand.
A memorable entry experience has been crafted that visually personifies the company's brand
attributes and is a quirky expression of our design philosophy. The transition from the lift
lobby into reception uses references borrowed from both retail and hospitality while
the launch theme of yellow ivy reflects the new brand colour and symbolises new growth for RED.
Utilisation of the lobby area as a shopfront inclusive of a flexible visual merchandising
zone - like a good store design - will change to reflect the seasons.
The bespoke timber reception desk is a playful take on a boutique cafe display, and a subtle reference to
Red Design Group’s unique blend of retail and hospitality design. Atop the counter where cakes might traditionally
be the expected fare, there sits instead the company's specially branded sweet jars. Hanging on a nearby sculptural
rail are T-shirts individually emblazoned with photographs that communicate the company's project work.
"Breaking out of the main work area are zones inspired by nature with meeting rooms dubbed spring and autumn -
it’s where our Graphic Design department took the lead," explains Colin Bell, Creative Director.
A generous 4-metre custom designed lunch bar in the main communal area angles into the workshop at one end
and abuts a sun lounge at the other - serving as an informal lunch, meeting and pin-up area.
It’s a workspace that speaks volumes about who Red Design Group is, what they do and how they go about it.
It also embodies the values and essence of our new brand.

In planning the design concept for a new space as we do with a lot of our retail clients,
we set out to define the brand in five key words, which in consultation with our team ended
up being collaborative, energetic, young, simple and bold.
