Red Design Group
Brand
Possibly the biggest challenge for a design firm is to create its own brand.
Our interior design agency was founded in 2002 as Retail Environment Design.
It didn't take long for our clients to shorten that mouthful to "Red".
Our brand colour was... You guessed it, red! Not very subtle but it
helped us get brand recognition.
But as the practice grew to include architecture and brand design, our numbers doubled and we moved
to a new space in Albert Park. This was the opportunity to rebrand as Red Design Group.
Graphic design firm, Langdon Lorraine, were appointed to create our new brand which was implemented in
stationery, new marketing collateral, our FeatuRED magazine, a new web site – and a strong retail
window display which created much interest from passers-by. Welcome to Red 2.0.
Fast forward to 2010 – and we have outgrown the space we thought would suit us for ever, and we spend
the next 18 months looking for a new home. Finally we find it in a classic Sixties building in the city.
A whole floor, right in the heart of retail and rubbing shoulders with all the big architectural
practices in William and Queen Streets. In May 2011 we move into our
inspiring new space
designed by Colin Bell, our Creative Director. Red 3.0 starts to take shape.
Enter Brent Riddell, our senior graphic designer. He assesses our current and past branding and proposes
a new direction. Shock – horror – our new colour is yellow – and whilst the name remains – the emphasis
is now equally placed on the 3 words: Red, Design, Group. We retaine our original Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk
font but add Adobe Garamond to give the brand a more personal and contemporary look
Did Brent meet the brief? Absolutely – and the new yellow brand is a key part of the Red 3.0 strategy
which is about to springboard us into our next exciting development – digital media!
Project Gallery
Tying in with the new office launch we manage to create and produce
a whole new brand family including the usual elements of stationery
and signage, but also new presentation folders, a branded USB and
an update of our web site.
